Petrus van Avont,, 1646.. Second state.. 20.5 x 12.5cm (print). 35 x 25cm (matted).. Etching. Trimmed at borders. Mounted at top corners, in open matting. Slight printers line running through at top right, little affect to illustration. Pencil notes of reference to outside of matting. Lower center with artists names and date. Six putti arranging fruit in two cornucopias, flanking oval portrait of Georg Ettenhard (Knight of Holy Empire and Supreme Treasurer of the Holy Cross in Spain). Hollar (1607-1677), Bohemian, active in London. One of the premier etchers and draftsmen of the 17th century, Wenceslaus Hollar is known for his landscape, architectural and topographical views, still lifes and depictions of womenÕs fashions.
