About This Item
1st. Hard. VG/Fair. 10 7 2. This book includes the fishes found in salt water off the Canadian coast, providing descriptions of 325 kinds of fishes, 54 of which are new. The arrangement of species follows that proposed by Greenwood et al. (1966) as interpreted by Bailey et al. (1970). Common names recommended by the latter authors were used when available, otherwise names were based on describers' recommendations or informal usage. Each species account is headed by a common name, followed by the scientific name and comments on the derivations of names and their previous use. Other information given includes a description of shape, fins, skin, colour, largest size recorded, features used for recognition, and distribution. Fisheries Research Board of Canada, 1973. Clean, crisp copy except for initials inside cover. Just jacket in fair condition with worn, ragged edges. Heavy book, additional postage may apply.
