Neatly rebacked, with original spine laid over (original bottom third missing); some mottling to covers, moderate to heavy wear to extremities. Color stamping remains very fresh and vivid despite prior heavy wear to cloth binding. Textblock somewhat worn, and very lightly browned at margins; occasional small open and closed tears, occasional dog-ears to text. 'This book belongs to' filled in with previous owner's signature, text otherwise unmarked. Overall a clean and bright text, many pages rather crisp. Binding square and tight.. Large 8vo. 7.125 x 9.25 in. 270 pp. + [1 blank], [1 advert.] pp. Neatly rebacked, with original spine laid over. Original light-tan cloth, titled and illustrated in black, red, yellow, and blue. Profusely and marvelously illustrated with full color reproductions of drawings by John R. Neill; illustrated endpapers printed in full color. Satisfies all First Printing Issue Points, including the 'O' in 'Ozma' on p. [11] for the very earliest copies of this First Edition, as well as advertisement at rear listing two titles, etc. Bienvenue p. 29.
Synopsis
Ozma of Oz, published on July 29, 1907, was the third book of L. Frank Baum's Oz series. It was the first in which Baum was clearly intending a series of Oz books.
