Second volume in the American Trails Series. Red cloth covered boards, gilt lettering and decorations, endpaper maps, well illustrated, 431 pages including notes and index. Very good in good dust jacket. Head and heel of spine bumped, small bump to top edge of front board, bruise to upper tip of front board. Jacket has substantial wear and chipping to top and bottom edges, tape repairs, some age toning.

Three volumes were published by Bobbs-Merrill before the series was continued by McGraw-Hill. 431 paqes including an index.

Choice autograph addition: Tipped to the inner flyleaf is a Typed Note Signed from Monaghan, 1p, 8½" X 11", Springfield, IL, 18 June 1946. Addressed to Ralph Newman (1912-98). Very good. Mild original folds. On letterhead of "Illinois State Historical Library" citing Monaghan as "State Historian," he writes the founder of Chicago's famed Abraham Lincoln Book Shop.
