Maroon blind-embossed cloth with ornate gilt spine lettering and decorations. 336pp. Tissue-guarded frontispiece, engraved title page, 2 full-page engraved plates. Near fine. Endpapers (only) a bit age toned, with 1867 nonauthorial gift inscription on inner flyleaf. Nicely tight and bright early (not first) printing, with spine gilt gleaming, of the first title in the prolific young adult writer's first "Young America Abroad" series (6 volumes, 1866-69). An exceptionally sharp, lovely copy.
