Four 4to volumes; in publisher's tan buckram stamped stamped with animal heads and double-ruled in gilt, backed in brown buckram, titled in gilt; xxxvii, [2], 640 pages, including Index; xxvii, [2], 746 pages, including Index; xix, [2], 780 pages, including Index; xxii, [2], 949 pages, including Index; illustrated throughout with 50 maps and 1500 illustrations by the author; "This edition is limited to one hundred and seventy-seven sets, signed by the author, of which this is no. 136; with Seton's signature and cat's paw dated 1886 on the frontispiece. There are glue spots on the pastedowns from where a bookplate has fallen off; there is still a bookplate on the pastedown of Volume III in the style of Aubrey Beardsley, with a name penned at the bottom.~~A massive undertaking, Volume I encompasses "Cats, Wolves and Foxes"; Volume II is "Bears, Coons, Badgers, Skunks, and Weasels"; Volume III is "Hoofed Animals"; Volume IV is "Rodents, Etc.". Very Good binding.
