Extremely scarce and out-of-print first edition! "Adoption provides substitute care (parents) for children whose natural parents are unable or unwilling to care for them. As a legal proceeding of the court, it involves permanent transfer of parental rights from the natural parents to the adopters. A more formal definition of adoption indicates, 'It entails the extinction of all present or future rights and obligations of the natural parents and the transfer, by administrative or legal authority, of all these rights and obligations to a married couple who have no blood relationship with the child.'." ------ from the Introduction..
