First edition, 19th printing. 8vo. 507 pp. Frontispiece is a portrait of the author, table of contents, about the author, preface, acknowledgements, index. Interior clean without markings; black cloth with author's name in gilt on the front cover, title and author's name in gilt on the spine. Jacket is clean and unclipped (priced at $60). Fine in a fine jacket. Inscribed on the title page by Deming: "Greetings to Paul. He was a Willing Worker on the Red Beads. 13 January 1993. He did his best. W. Edwards Deming." Rare signed /inscribed. Deming was the father of Total Quality Management. His quality control techniques were adopted by Japanese management, and he was extremely influential there. His high regard in the U. S. came later, especially after he consulted with Ford Motor Company in the early '80's.
