About This Item
Austin: W. Thomas Taylor, 1977. John Fowles provides us with a translation from the original French of an obscure novel from 1824 Paris which Fowles, as stated in his Introduction, feels influenced him unconsciously when he was writing "The French Lieutenant's Woman." Printed at the Bird & Bull Press on Green's Hayle paper, and bound by Gray Parrot, Hancock, Maine. Blue marbled boards, 1/4 morocco with a gilt rule. A very good copy (top and bottom edges of covers have considerable silverfish damage--see scans). A beautiful, unusual book, one of only 500. No dust jacket but with a heavy archival plastic cover. SIGNED by Fowles at the end of his Epilogue (p. 64).. Signed by translator. 1st Edition thus. Hard Cover.
