"This overwhelming display of historically valuable photographs were originally collected and made available to the American public in connection with the 1975 Sesquicentennial Photography Exhibition 'With our Hands and Minds'. The exhibition concentrated mainly on the Mid-West. In this book that material is supplemented by pictures from immigrant life in the West and in Alaska" Black cloth with gilt titling on spine, pale green end papers, black and white photographs throughout, 191 pages. Cover has minor edge wear, corners are bumped, text block edges slightly darkened, spot on leading text block edge, ink inscription on end paper, text has a slightly musty odour, book is generally clean and tight.
