About This Item

Franklin Center, Penn.: The Franklin Library, 1976. 1976. Authentic, full leather hardcover, limited edition, 446 pages. THIS IS NOT A FACSIMILE, A TRADE BOOK, OR A BOOK-ON-DEMAND. THIS IS THE 1976 FULL LEATHER EDITION BY FRANKLIN LIBRARY. The book, "In This Life," won THE PULITZER PRIZE in 1942. Illustrated by Walter Rane. Beautiful deep green leather binding with gilt designs and lettering. Four raised edges on spine. All edges in gilt. Silk endpapers and bound-in silk bookmark. The acid-free book paper is a special paper stock made to archival standards. The publisher is no longer in business, so all leather-bound Pulitzer Prize Winning books by this publisher are collectible. Condition: New [many books online are books that have been read, but the seller still defines as New. This book belonged to a book collector; it was purchased from the publisher and kept in a temperature-controlled book cabinet. It was never read. It's new, crisp, in gift-giving condition]. This was the last novel by Ellen Glasgow, a Southern writer. She had been writing best-sellers since 1904, and her realistic examination of Southern life and culture were widely praised. Her story of a decadent Southern family is marked by realism, feminism and a concern for human beings. The Boston Transcript called this book a "rich, powerful novel" and The New York Times said "a book for our time." It's new, leather- bound, and collectible.
