Publisher's green cloth, spine lettered in gilt, boards ornamented in blind; edges untrimmed; pp. [viii], 156, 4; with a copper engraved frontispiece, a few plates, and a folding map at front; slight sunning to spine; light rubbing to extremities; a little spotting here and there due to offsetting from plates; a very good copy. First edition. Harvey documents a three week expedition in a rowing boat of over 1,000 miles along the Seine and Rhine rivers and a train journey from Germany to Belgium. The voyagers who are referred to throughout the text as The Professor, the Captain, and the Doctor encounter a variety of demeanors of people throughout their travels. The author was a Cornwall author, composer and curate.
