Octavo (20.75cm); original printed card wrappers with French flaps; [8],9-226,[2]pp. Light wear and a few tiny tears to extremities, sunning to spine, some rubbing to spine ends and joints, with some tanning to text edges, faint foxing to right edge of textblock, and some more pronounced scattered spotting to upper edge; Very Good and sound. The Argentine author's well-received collection of 39 essays on various historical figures, including Coleridge, Whitman, Hawthorne, Wilde, Chesterton, Kafka, Keats, Wells, and Bernard Shaw, among others. The book quickly went into a second printing shortly after publication. Becco 69.
