About This Item
In 1951, James Drayer [1927-2017] graduated from Ohio State's School of Architecture with a degree in Landscape Architecture. These 100 drawings, from 1947-49, reflect the quality of his student work.
#####
A combination of pen and ink, crayon, and watercolor – each approximately 8x11" in size.
#####
About a third are landscape scenes – parks, trees, and parkways. The rest depict a wide variety of architectural themes from house design, to schools, to cemeteries. The former are often delightful images suitable for framing; the latter offer insight into residential and commercial designs of the period. We don't know his career path or activities after leaving Ohio State, other than a move to California where he worked as a Landscape Architect for the Sacramento Parks Department.
