Bloomsbury, London: Nonesuch Press, 1932. Limited edition. Hardcover. Very good. Tall thin octavo, with slight wear to edges and corners. Some darkening to endpapers, and light scuffing to boards. Limited edition, hand numbered 193 of 800 copies. Gilt titles to spine, with lovely gilt designs by Ricketts to front and rear boards, both different. Typography was by Francis Meynell of the Press. An attractive book with handmade Van Gelder paper (with the Nonesch watermark) published by the famed Nonesuch Press and printed by the Sign of the Dolphin Press of George W. Jones. Ricketts was a respected English author, fine press printer, and theatre designer as well as a supporter and friend of Wilde. He created this invented setting by drawing on his own notes and recollections concering his times with Wilde, creating a sympathetic view of the indignities suffered by his friend.
