Title browned, light browning elsewhere. lv, 259 pp. *** FIRST EDITION of a detailed, first-hand account of events in Portugal from the military coup in 1820 through 1828, with a chapter devoted to each year. Although the author professes to present a strictly factual account, he is a liberal, and interprets the events to mean that the Portuguese hate absolutism and the usurpation of D. After the defeat of the Miguelistas he served in a number of elective offices, including that of Deputy to the Cortes in 1848.*** Innocêncio III, 358; X, 233: calling for only 250 pp. Figanière p. 122.
