New York 1954 First edition 8 1/2 x 5 3/4", 281 p., A surprisingly good read by a Colombian who visited little-known Indian tribes in Venezuela, eastern Colombia,, and Ecuador at a time when the upper Amazon was poorly known by outsiders. The author traveled alone and took his own photographs. This is the complete and original first edition. The same account was published simultaneously in Great Britain by Mueller in a somewhat altered format, i.e., the title was changed to "Jungle Explorer", the size and number of pages was reduced (though the text remained unchanged), and there were 8 fewer photographs. Neither version is common. The present copy has a reasonably good DJ, though there is a small piece missing at the top of thespine and the front shows a few ring stains.
