Woodstock, VT: The Elm Tree Press, 1912., 1912.. Good. LIMITED EDITION OF 500 NUMBERED COPIES - Octavo, 8-5/8 inches high by 5-5/8 inches wide. Color patterned boards backed with a green cloth spine with a title label on the spine. The covers are rubbed and soiled with wear to the corners and the head and tail of the spine. The title label is stained and chipped. xii, [iv], 58 & [1] pages, illustrated with a title vignette and 8 plates. There are occasional cracks to the text block and a tiny chip to the bottom edge of the first few pages. A previous owner's initials with the date are penned on the front endpaper. There is a light sweet odor, likely from a cleaning solution. Good.
Limited edition of 500 numbered copies of which this is number 131.
Included among the chapters are the following: "Friar Gregory's Salutation to the Clan of Golfers", "Casus Carpili: The Downfall of Caprilius", and "De Globulo: Concerning 'the little Ball'". Under the latter chapter headings are found "The Genius of the Game", "The Rules", "The Caddy, His Duties", "The Addressing of the Ball", "Wagering", and "On Keeping the Eye on the Hole".
