About This Item
Unpublished, 1890. Original ink/watercolor drawing by the preeminent illustrator of children of the late nineteenth century. Undated, circa 1880-1900. Depicted are two young girls, backs to us, seated in a meadow amid spindly wildflowers. Each wears a fur-trimmed shawl or frock; the one on the left her spring hat & lilac frock, the one on the right in a bonnet matching her sky-blue frock; initialed in the lower left corner, undated. Image size about 2-3/8 by 1-3/4 inches (6 x 4.5 cm) on somewhat larger paper, which is tanned but unfoxed. As found, in an early twentieth-century mat & frame (though clearly recently re-wired), non-archival, backed with wood; featuring the artist's name neatly written on the mat. Charming & unique! . First Edition. Single Sheet, Framed. Very Good. Illus. by Kate Greenaway. 2-3/8 by 1-3/4 inches.
