1950. Near fine. Two drawings, on sheets measuring about 11.25" x 14.25". The drawings are well-executed, and depict what we would now call stereotypical images of African-Americans in pastoral scenes. The verso of each image is titled in pencil, "Lomba Lou," and credited to Robbie Robison. Robison was a Pennsulvania-born cartoonist and illustrator who ultimately illustrated more than fifty children's books, a fact consistent with the stamp on the verso of these drawings, the "Julia Ellsworth Ford Foundation." That organization exist to promote children's literature, especially of the illustrated variety. An interesting rarity - it's difficult to find comparable examples in recent auction records.
