Boston, 1950. A collection of 14 different original works created by Lucy Eleanor Leary created for the Boston Sunday Post. Each strip includes a theme and captions for the garments all telling a story, additionally there are vignettes relevant to the theme. All are in black and white with the exception of one, "Having a Wonderful Summer at Cape Cod! which has been hand colored. Size ranges from largest 13 3/4" x 22" to 10 1/4" x 18" All are larger than the actual comic strips. Additionally this collection includes 14 proofs for different date Leary strips; mostly black and white some printed in color. An excellent study in popular culture, gender roles and the idyllic society consistently found in 19th C paper doll art.
