The exhibition was a "feast for the senses" whose outstanding features have been preserved in the pages of this book along with of the fabulous trade in ceramics from China and from within South-East Asia itself. As professor Wang Gungwu has said, "the traditional trade in oriental ceramics may not be as well-known as that in silk, spices or tea, but is certainly no less significant in advancing Western understanding of Asia.". John Guy was the Assistant Keeper in the Indian Department at the Victoria and Albert Museum, South Kensington, London..
