About This Item

Portland: Secretary and Director of Exploitation, Press of the Irwin-Hodson Co., 1904. 12mo. 96 pp. With photo plates, text illustrations, double-page centerfold birds-eye view of the Lewis & Clark Centennial by James Harvey Rollin Caughey. Illustrated softcovers, cover art front cover lettering in red (minor creasing, folds, couple minor closed tears, slight foxing), still a G copy. First edition of this very scarce land promotion prospectus, and souvenir touting Oregon the year prior to the 1905 Lewis & Clark Centennial Exposition, marking the anniversary of the famed exploration across the North American continent after the Louisiana Purchase. The photo plates depict areas around the Pacific Northwest, the steamships plying the Columbia and Willamette Rivers, and the iconic birds-eye illustration by Caughey.
