First edition. 8vo. xxii, 581, (1) pp. Publisher's dark blue cloth, gilt lettered to the spine and upper board, publisher's notice tipped in at the title page and two errata slips at p. 1. Frontispiece portrait of the author's father, a folding table, folding colour map and 98 illustrations in the text. Wear to the extremities with slight loss at the corners, else very good.
