Limited Edition of 500 numbered and signed copies. Accompanied by one tipped-in, original print by the artist/photographer (hence the Series' name). An elegant production by Chris Pichler: Small-size volume format. Titles on the cover and spine, as issued. Photographs and Interview by Lars Schwander. Printed on pristine-white, archival stock paper to the highest standards. Without DJ, as issued. Presents portrait-photographs of and an accompanying Interview with Manuel Alvarez Bravo by Lars Schwander. An homage to an Old Master. "One day in April 1999, Lars Schwander travelled to Coyoacan, Mexico City, to interview Manuel Alvarez Bravo. Schwander's portrayal of the legendary Mexican photographer, through words and pictures, is both delightful and touching" (Publisher's blurb). Bravo was 97 years old when the Interview was conducted and the photographs taken. They both show a man who epitomizes gravitas and grace. Manuel Alvarez Bravo's life-work established him as the greatest Latin-American photographer of the 20th century and a national treasure in his native Mexico. This book is a fitting memorial tribute to a great artist who proved that being an artist is one of the best ways to live a long and happy life. It recalls Yuichi Hibi's "A Weekend With Mr. Frank" (One Picture Book # 35), and is even more poignant because Manuel Alvarez Bravo has since died (in 2002, a few months after he turned 100). An absolute "must-have" title for Manuel Alvarez Bravo and Lars Schwander collectors. <b><i> This copy is one of the Limited Edition, indicated as such in pencil on the Back Limitation Page. It comes with an original print (of Manuel Alvarez Bravo) that is very prominently and beautifully signed in pencil on verso by Lars Schwander. This title is now collectible. This is one of few copies of the Limited Edition still available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright, a pristine beauty. Please note: The remaining copies from the publisher command $75. This is surely an accessible and lovely alternative. A scarce signed copy thus. </b></i>7 plates, 1 original print. One of the most brilliant photographers of our time on one of the greatest photographers of the 20th century. A fine copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER ONE PICTURE BOOK TITLES IN OUR CATALOG). ISBN 1590052226.
