A brilliant first printing of the first American edition [Knopf New York 1984], signed by John D Macdonald directly on the half title page. The book is in fine condition with no remainder marks, a tight and square binding, with no owner inscriptions or highlighting and minimal shelf wear. The dust jacket is in near fine condition, not price-clipped ($15.95), with small creases but no chips or tears and minimal shelf wear.
