With exlibris: Gift of the Schweizerischen Schillerstiftung in honour of the poet commemorating his 70th birthday on 24th April 1915, with own signature of Carl Spitteler. Jena, E. Diederichs, 1914. First edition of the revised version of the main work by C. Spitteler (1845-1924). The poet sketches a dark picture of the cosmos in about 20'000 verses, influenced by Schopenhauer's philosophy.
