The book is in near fine condition with gilt decoration to the brick-red boards. The jacket is nearly very good, complete but stained to the spine with consequent browning to the exterior. Bragg was a physicist, chemist and mathematician who, uniquely, shared the Nobel Prize in Physics with his son in 1915. Bragg held the Cavendish chair in physics at Leeds University from 1909-1915 where he invented the X-ray spectrometer with his son Lawrence, subsequently holding posts at London University and the Royal Institution where he gave the lectures that make up this book.
