Hardcover. 91 pg. hardcover, ex-library copy with catalog number sticker on front cover, withdrawn bookplate on inside cover, occasional blind stamps, and partially peeled spine. Edges of pages are gilt, with a b&w portrait of Copway. Copway was born in Ontario to Mississauga Anishinaabe parents with his father serving as a Chief and Medicine Man. They all converted to Methodism, and Copway went on to marry an English woman and serve as a missionary. One of his earlier writings was the first book to be published by a Canadian First Nations writer.
