In the original publisher's oblong quarto pictorial laminated boards - some fading to the colour on the boards, , some red tones have changed to green, etc, but this makes little difference to the picture on the covers. The page fore-edges are 'toned' a pale 'tan' with age - but uniformly. Internally Near FINE with NO Inscriptions or Marks. 32 pp. Illustrated throughout in full colour by Gail E Haley - who is both Author and Illustrator and Winner of the 1976 Kate Greenaway Medal for this book. She also won the Caldecott Medal in 1971 for her retelling of the African folktale 'A Story a Story'. A Delightful fictional Cat tale for younger readers, but based on the Historical Fact that Victorian London's Postal Service came to rely on cats to ward off predatory rodents who chewed the mail !
