La Compagnie des Libraires Associes , 1788 . Hardback. . 6 volumes full calf with 5 raised bands and gilt decoration to compartments and gilt lining to boards. Marbled endpapers and all edges gilt. Each volumes (excepting volume 4) have bookplates of Glyd White, who was the only son of Benjamin White. Volume 1 has the ownership sig. 'B White 1799' on the verso of the front free endpaper. Benjamin White was the brother of Gilbert White and first published 'The Natural History of Selborne'. Illustrated and with portrait frontispiece. The picture on this listing page is of the actual book for sale. 6 volumes hardback. Volumes 1-3 and 5-6 are Good only, edgeworn esp. to corners and spines, with most spine title labels absent. Contents of all vols. crisp and clean. Volume 4 is Fair with and bound in full calf but not matching the other volumes. The boards of this vol. are detached and the spine strip is absent, front free endpaper and half title loose but not quite detached. Pages are crisp and bright.
