Paris: Carnier Freres, Libraires - Editeurs . New Edition. Quarter Leather. Good. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Type: Z 534pp. Text in French. no date - c 1870. Bound in quarter red leather with red hard boards. Four raised bands to the spine with gilt embossed designs between the bands and gilt embossed lettering to the spine. All edges gilt. Illustrated with numerous steel engravins with tissue guards. The leather at the head and tail of the spine are rubbed with a few niks to the cloth at the tail of the spine and associated fraying. Rubbing to the corners of the boards. Previous owners name, date and address to the reverse of the frontispiece plate with some rubbing to the head of the page, presumably from where a previous name has been rubbed out. Light stain to the front paste down. Loss of the front end paper and half title page. There is foxing most marked to the two ends of the book but also scattered throughout the rest of the textblock, limited to the margins of the illustration plates. The book remains tight. A good copy.
