Printed on laid paper watermarkered "Van Gelder Zonen" and with signature of Guy de Maupassant. 8vo. Handsome half morocco and blue marbled boards stamped in gilt on spine. Four raised bands on spine. Copyright 1908, 1909 and 1910. Top page edges in bright gilt. Foredges and bottom edges uncut. Blue marbled endpages. Some pages uncut. Leather bindings are deteriorating at hinges - the spines of 7 volumes are covered in a black tape with often taped hinges - 2 have part of the spine leather attached over the tape. Several have loose boards and two are missing one board with one missing both boards.. Generally worn at board tips. Despite the binding problems this is a very nice set with the text in bright, clean fine condition. Ex college library with a bookplate and a few marks - lower inch of spine in black. Should be repaired or rebound..
