Norwalk, CT: Easton Press. Near Fine with no dust jacket. 1978. Hardcover. Illustrated with drawings by Raffaele Scorzelli. Translated with by Francis Storr. Introduction by Thornton Wilder. This book is beautifully bound in a full maroon leather binding with 22 kt gold spine and cover decorations. The spine has four raised bands with five decorated compartments. The end papers are yellow silk moire, and there is also a yellow silk ribbon bookmark. Printed on acid-free paper. This is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings and no signs of wear; there are no ownership names or bookplates. This book appears to have been unread. This book would make a wonderful addition to any library and looks great on a shelf.; 100 Greatest Books Ever Written Series; Duotone Illustrations; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 159 pages .
Synopsis
Contains Grene's 1942 translation of Oedipus Rex; also includes Grene's 1991 introduction to Sophocles I, entitled The Theban plays by Sophocles.
