About This Item

MP3 Audio CD. This chronicle of occurrences in Russia from the October Revolution in Petrograd, to his ratification of the Brest-Litovsk treaty with Germany which brought Russia past the World War I. The treaty extracted immense forfeitures for Russia by means of appropriations of land and economical restitutions to Germany. In this lengthy paper, Leon contends the arguments as to why he agreed to ratify what seems to be a detrimental alliance for Russia.

Leon Trotsky was a Marxist revolutionary, theorist, and Soviet staesman. Originally advocating the Menshevik Internationalists faction within the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party, he associated with the Bolsheviks right before the 1917 October Revolution, directly becoming a precursor in the Communist Party. He would remain to be among the seven members of the first Politburo to dominate the Bolshevik Revolution. Through the first days of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR) and the Soviet Union, he gave his service primarily as People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs and then as the initiator and chief officer of the Red Army, with the designation of People's Commissar of Military and Naval Affairs. He was a prominent character in the Bolshevik conquest in the Russian Civil War.

After controlling an unsuccessful war of the Left Opposition in contradiction to the strategies and ascent of Joseph Stalin and in contradiction to the ascending responsibility of the civil service in the Soviet Union, Leon was dismissed from his official duties, ousted from the Communist Party, expatriated to Alma?Ata, and expatriated from the Soviet Union. As the leader of the Fourth International, he endured to be in conflict with the Stalinist bureaucracy in the Soviet Union from expatriation.

His concepts outlined the foundation of Trotskyism, a leading school of Marxism that counters to the philosophies of Stalinism.
