The story of a Kansas businessman, rancher, farmer, oil drilling, grain elevator owner--written by his wife. Biography of Ray Hugh Garvey (1893 - 1958) written by his widow, Olive White Garvey, herself a noted businesswoman, poet, dramatist, and authoress, in conjunction with Vigil Quinlisk. Written for Garvey grandchildren and their contemporaries throughout America, Mrs. Garvey recounts the philosophy behind a great American success story. The first of the photographs included show Ray Garvey competing in a two-mile run in 1912, the same dedication, discipline, and clarity of goal will run through his life. From farm boy, through the Great Depression, in face of obstacles, Garvey runs a course that takes him to success in business, political influence and philanthropy. A life lived undaunted.
