Preface and introduction by compiler, classified index  families, genera, and species, Glossary and index. The text is illustrated with the text decorated with both colour and photographic plates along with some black and white illustrations at the beginning of the book. Green coloured textured boards with dark green coloured embossed titles to the front panel and back strip. Colour illustrated dustwrapper with brown coloured titles to the front panel and to the back strip. This is an Observer's book, in which 45 species of ferns are described. Observer's book number 12. Minor rubbing of the book edges with age toning of the text block edges and pages. Some marks to the top text edge. Original bookseller's sticker to the lower right-hand corner of the front paste down. Chipping of the dustwrapper corners and back strip edges. Some creasing to the top dustwrapper edge. Rubbing to the dustwrapper  particularly to the rear panel. A little sunning of the back strip. Size: 16mo - up to 6 ¾" tall - Sextodecimo. 127, [1] pages,. Dust Jacket price-clipped.
