About This Item

London: Macmillan and Co., 1870. 477 pages, plus nine of ten lithographs and four full page wood engravings. Lacking index and plate number V (Pratincola Semitorquata, hand colored after Keulemans). Volume remains in original green cloth binding, and the lacking leaves appear to have never been bound in this volume. Covers remain bright and clean, with light wear at corners and spine ends. Gilt lettering and decoration on spine remains good. There are a couple of small cracks on hinges (internal), though volume remains tight. Bookseller's penciled note at top of half title page. Contents are generally clean, though foxing is seen on colored folding frontispiece along with tissue guard and title page. A very small amount of foxing is seen on color folding map. Of the five remaining bird plates after Keulemans, plate number VI shows moderate foxing along with the following leaf. The others show a little very light foxing. . First Edition. Cloth - Hard Cover. Good/No Dust Jacket.
