London: Longman, Orme, Brown, Green, and Longmans, 1939. Hardcover. First Edition. 8vo. [1] viii. 455pp. + large folding engraved map, partially hand-colored + 16pp. ads. Bound in the original publisher ribbed cloth with blind-stamped decoration and gilt titling. POOR. A binding copy. Shows the edges rubbed and showing, closed splits of the cloth at and near the hinges, toning and bouts of discoloration of the cloth, hinges have been pulled but are now repaired, a burn mark seeps into the margins until p. 54 (though never reaches the text), two small closed tears of the half-title page, the folding map with a closed tear and just slight edge wear, otherwise the text-block remains clean and unmarked with no foxing whatsoever and the engraved map remains distinct. As pictured.
