About This Item

New York: Printed by Pynson Printers, 1939. Centenial edition of Naegele's classic first published in Mainz in 1839 and newly translated by Alfred M. Hellman and George Musa. Copy no. 301 of a limited edition of 360 copies. Lage hardcover. Very good in marbled paper over boards. A tight, clean and unmarked copy. 69pp. + 16 full page plates at end. Garrison & Morton 6257: "First description of the obliquely contracted pelvis, or "Naegele pelvis". Because of its rarity and the difficulty of recognizing it clinically in living subjects, the obliquely contracted pelvis, with its most often fatal consequences at delivery, was unknown until Naegele's study of 37 cases. He suggested diagnostic aids for its recognition." .
