About This Item

London: Pinter & Martin, 2005. New ed.. Paperback large trade, very good plus condition, minimal edgewear, cover design differs from stock photo. 231 pp. Stanley Milgram describes one of the most influential experiments in social psychology. Volunteers are instructed by an experimenter to apply an electric shock every time a learner makes a mistake. A surprisingly high number of participants go right up the scale to 450 volts. This study helps explain how ordinary people can commit the most horrific of crimes if placed under the influence of a evil authority, as in Nazi Germany. Foreword by psychologist Jerome Bruner. (Originally published in 1974.).
