About This Item
Oahu Cemetery Association, 1998-12-01. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 1998 Oahu Cemetery Association (Honolulu, Hawaii), 9 3/8 x 12 1/4 inches tall pale blue cloth hardcover in publisher's unclipped dust jacket, gilt lettering to spine, blue pattern endpapers, copiously illustrated with color and black-and-white photographs, 160 pp. Very slight soiling and rubbing to covers, with slight bumping to the lower tip of the front cover. Otherwise, a near fine copy - clean, bright and unmarked - in a slightly edgeworn but otherwise very good dust jacket which is nicely preserved and displayed in a clerar archival Brodart sleeve. Note that this is a heavy and oversized book, so additional postage will be required for international or priority orders. ~M~ [3.5P] Founded in 1844, Oahu Cemetery - located in lush Nuuanu Valley on the island of Oahu - is Hawaii's most historic graveyard. Hundreds of history makers - including the 'Father' of American baseball, Alexander J. Cartwright - are resting peacefully here. Noted graveyard historian, author and photographer, Nanette Napoleon Purnell, brings this graveyard to life through vivid stories of family tragedies, political intrigue and heroism on the high seas. Over 200 color photographs capture the wonderful array of tombstone art and architecture that make this site such a beautiful outdoor museum.
