About This Item

Boston and London: Oahspe Publishing Association, 1909. Second Edition, Revised and Enlarged. hardcover. Very Good. Quarto; xv, 891 pages, brown pebbled cloth. With, a 72-page Index to Oahspe, issued in 1972 in stapled wrappers. Ex libris Henry A. Schmidt, a metallurgist at Chloride, New Mexico: a gift from Prof. Edgar Lucien Larkin, Director of the Lowe Astronomical Observatory at Los Angeles, There is some glossing, apparently by Schmidt.

" it may be said of Oahspe; it is not the work of inspiration, or of intellectual culture or research ... a man who wrote it without thinking about it at all, and who can think about something else all the time tie writing is going on. ... It was in this manner that the pictures in Oahspe were made. The portraits are taken from full-sized oil paintings, but fail measureably in illustrating the beauty of the originals. ... Ten years ago, whie it was here written that a man should turn away from flesh diet and become herbivorous, it seemed an impossiblity. But yet within these ten years there have sprung up all over the United States, England, France, and Germany countless thousands of vegetarians and vegetarian societies. - Preface to the Second Edition." Not inspiration but spirit writing, from the angels. Adherents to this new consciousness shall be called FAITHISTS in the Kosmon Era and Kosmon Church. The final chapter "treats of the condition of things soon to come upon the earth." It predicts the demise of all other religions.

About Thomas J. Joyce And Company

Joyce And Company has been in business as a professional rare bookseller and appraiser since 1975. Owner Thomas Joyce was the regular book appraiser on Home & Garden TV\'s \"The Appraisal Fair\\\" program, on international broadcasts. Thomas Joyce was the co-discoverer of George Washington's personal copy of William Leybourn's 1679 edition of THE COMPLEAT SURVEYOR, from which young Washington learned some of his surveying skills at age 16.
