Former school department reference copy w/attendant stamps to front/rear pgs. First published in 1919; this is a 1955 reprint. Collection of 10 number stories from many lands w/Question Boxes at the end of each tale. Illustrated with color plates and line drawings. Frontispiece is titled "Ching and His Three Turtles", showing a clean scrubbed, well-groomed, sage-like Chinese man wrapped, rather incredulously, in a sarong of leopard skins. Other color plates are likewise fanciful & imaginative. Common theme is man's fascination with numbers and number puzzles.
