About This Item
Lordsburg, NM: Shakespeare Ghost Town, 1998 Shakespeare Ghost Town, Lordsburg, NM. 1998. Softcover/Trade Wraps. Stated 3rd Edition. Book is tight, square, and unmarked. Book Condition: New. No DJ. Pictorial card stock wraps. Wraps are not bent or folded; spine is secure in saddle staples; text is secure in binding. 51 pp (plus errata sheet at rear) 8vo. The author came to Shakespeare with her husband Frank in 1935, operating the land as a cattle ranch with the buildings of Shakespeare used for ranching purposes. From that time on, the Mercantile Building was their home and as time allowed, Rita began to collect more and more of the history of Shakespeare from locals and people who lived there in its heyday when the mines were working and producing and there was a railroad spur to the town. This book covers the history of the Ralston City/Shakespeare, its former residents, its history, the outlaws, the famous people, the events, and the eventual demise into a ghost town. A clean very presentable copy.
