In the absence of a time machine, this is an excellent venue for discovering how surgeries were performed during the early 19th and mid-18th centuries. Surgeon of the King's Camps and Armies, and the Director of the Royal Academy of Surgery, Legouas was a Professor of Anatomy at the University of Paris.
