Paris, fils et successeur de Mme Ve Ballard, 1849. First Edition, half-title, inscription on title "C. R. Weld, Paris Aug./49.", light foxing of the first 2 leaves, table of contents at end, [2], 20, [2] pp., disbound. The Palais des Tuileries stood on the right bank of the River Seine until 1871, when it was destroyed in the upheaval during the suppression of the Paris Commune. It closed off the western end of the Louvre courtyard, which has remained open since the destruction of the palace.
