A narrative history of all the men who built the railroad that made the continent into a nation ... the investors who risked their businesses and money; the enlightened politicians who understood its importance; the engineers and surveyors who risked, and lost, their lives; and the Irish and Chinese immigrants, the defeated Confederate soldiers, and the other laborers who did the backbreaking and dangerous work on the tracks. Light foxing to fore edges else fine in dust jacket with a 1/4" x 3/4" chip and wrinkle to top of rear panel.
