London, England: James Nisbet and Co, 1837. First Edition. Leather-bound. Very Good. Small octavo, 7.6 in. x 4.8 in., pp. viii, 389. Illustrated with fold-out frontispiece hand-colored map (engraved by R. Palmer) of Ireland (12 in. x 9 in.). Full calf with with gilt emblem for the "Society of Writers to the Signet" on front and rear. Gilt title on red panel to rebacked spine. Speckled red edges. Crackling and chips to spine. Front and rear hinges professionally repaired. Two-inch library tape repair to frontispiece map. Leaves clear and bright. The Reverend Baptist Wriothesley Noel (1798 - 1873) was an English evangelical clergyman of an aristocratic family. He was minister of St John's Chapel, Bedford Row, London, from 1827 to 1848, In 1849 he became a Baptist minister and pastor of the nearby John Street Baptist Church in Bloomsbury, following the death of the former pastor, James Harington Evans. Noel twice served as President of the Baptist Union. (from Wikipedia).
