New York: Wm. H. Wise, 1927. First Edition. Stiff boards. Near fine. A very good first edition hardcover by the Roycrofters. No dust jacket. Aquamarine cloth covered, stiff boards with black title stamping on front cover and spine. Photo endpapers of Roycroft campus.Fading to back cover. No date on title page. Binding is sturdy and square. Text is clean and bright. Copyright 1927 by the Roycrofters. Letterpress printing. 208 pp. plus 6 [vi] pp. index. Octavo, 6 & 1/2 x 9 & 1/2 inches tall. Best known as the the initiator of the Arts and Crafts community, Roycroft, Hubbard was an anarchist, socialist, and followed a philosophy of mental and spiritual freedom. Some of his works, which include Jesus Was an Anarchist and a A Message to Garcia, were listed as offensive by the US government. He and his wife died aboard the Lusitania.
